Planet Oxygene V2 is back (June 19th 2005)

Last Updated 18th October 2006

MP3's updated

Just a quick note to say that I have updated the MP3 files on the website with some new tracks I am working on. Feel free to leave me feedback on these at cjp@planetoxygene.com

Guestbook, MacOSG and more ...

Hi there everyone,

Well i've just temporarily closed the guestbook, it will return with more features shortly. Keep your eyes peeled for this.

Also, if you are a MAC fan and want to subscribe to a breakout PodCast, then I can recommend:

http://www.macosg.com/

They have also recently used one of my peices of music (time) for several of their european podcasts. These are highly informative and entertaining shows. If you are a Mac computer fan, give it a go :-)

I'll be back shortly with some updates on Jarre's new album and a discussion on how his style has changed throughout the years, and why that isn't necessarily a bad thing (As some would have us believe).

Here he is :-)

John Charles Payne

My first baby was born on July 30th 2006 at 7:14am. He weighed 6.2 pounds and was 19 and a half inches long.

We have called him John Charles Payne and I am the proudest daddy in the world :-)

Baby time

Yes it's true, i'm writing this from the hospital as we are about to have our first baby - a baby boy. I will put some photo's online the minute he is born - thank god for internet access in hospital rooms :-)

New Developments

Hi there everyone, it's been too long since I last updated Planet Oxygene. The GOOD news is i'm almost ready with Planet Oxygene V3 which will dramatically increase the usage of databases for the website which will make almost EVERYTHING searchable, the members area will be back and more customizable than ever, newsletters will finally start arriving and some other new features that you will only get by signing up as a FREE member.

As usual any information you give to Planet Oxygene will NEVER be given to anyone else - period.

So sit back and relax, the new Planet Oxygene V3 is going through it's final development stages and i'm taking the Poll results into account so don't forget to vote :-)

New Features

Well we survived the hurricane so it's time to get some updates online. The POLL is back up and can be accessed at the bottom left of this (And most) screen(s), also I have made some guestbook updates behind the scenes and a couple of cosmetic changes to the website. I am getting ready for Planet Oxygene V3 which will have some very interactive features and many interface updates plus the news will be updated more often. Stay tuned :-) .......

Tooltips are now active on certain links throughout the website, more will appear shortly with hints, tips and more information on links before you click on them so you know exactly what is at the other end of the link you will be clicking. This is phase 1 of Planet Oxygene V3 which aims to increase not only the content on Planet Oxygene but also the overall usability.

Information on Jean Michel Jarre's new releases will be online shortly.

Update

As you may have noticed, we have recently been the victims of some rather major SPAM in our guestbook, I have updated the code to HOPEFULLY eliminate this and return the guestbook back to it's old self. I did, however, have to delete all posts and start fresh.

On a side note, I will be making some large updates shortly, I am hoping for this weekend as long as Hurricane Wilma doesn't strike me here in Orlando, Central Florida.

Robert Moog passes away

Robert A. Moog, has died. He was 71 years of age. His revolutionary design for synthesizers - such as a minimoog, were an inspiration for a whole host of synthesizer musicians. Rest in peace and thank you for your contribution to the synthesizer music world.

MP3's have been updated

I have added some additional MP3's to the MP3 section. I hope you enjoy them :-)

Editorial Updated

The editorial has been updated with a small peice on Erasure and how they are similar to Jarre in some respects.

Upcoming Additions

I am currently working on quite a few additions to Planet Oxygene, including some very special JMJ tribute tracks which will be available in MP3 over the next couple of weeks/months. These are my interpretations of some of Jarres classic tracks.

Multimedia is very important to me, so i'll also be putting some visualizations to these tracks - the exact format i've not decided upon yet, but will either be Flash, MP4 video or DivX 6.

But in the more immediate future, I am writing some more reviews of Jean-Michels albums and working on adding a lot of new content plus refining the layout. I've already fixed the outline issues I was having in Mozilla Firefox and now it's time to really make the website standout in the way I always wanted to do artistically :-)

As i've mentioned before, there are so many things I want to change and add to Planet Oxygene it would take all day just to type up the list, but in time (And the not too distant future) i'll hopefully have everything online and ready for you all to hopefully enjoy :-)

The album reviews section has had a new addition in Magnetic Fields. Also feel free to add your own reviews for any album you like (Or don't).

Jarre makes it into the Least successful Top 40 Acts

Yes you heard me right, follow the link below to see why (Hint, it's at the bottom of the page in a table). It's amazing what you find when you're not looking (Good old Natacha Atlas :-)
